How to resize an image online
- Select a JPEG, PNG or WebP image from your device.
- Enter the required width or height. Keep aspect ratio enabled to prevent stretching.
- Choose the output format and quality, then select Resize image.
- Inspect the preview, dimensions and file size before downloading.
Choose dimensions for the destination
Pixel dimensions describe the number of dots across and down an image. They are different from the physical centimetres or inches used for printing. For a website, newsletter or social post, use the pixel size requested by that platform or template.
The 1080-pixel and 1920-pixel presets provide practical starting widths for social and full-screen web images. They do not crop the image; the height is calculated from the original aspect ratio. Use custom dimensions when a content management system provides an exact specification.
Aspect ratio, quality and file size
The aspect ratio is the relationship between width and height. Keeping it locked prevents faces, products and logos from appearing squeezed. Unlock it only when deliberate stretching is acceptable; this resizer does not crop to fill a different shape.
JPEG and WebP quality controls balance detail against file size. A setting around 80–90 often works well for photographs. PNG uses lossless compression and ignores the quality slider, making it better for screenshots, graphics and transparency but often larger for photos.
Private browser-based image processing
The original and resized image are processed with standard browser APIs. Sarvalaya does not receive the file. Generated previews use temporary local object URLs that are released when you replace the image or leave the page.
Browser processing uses device memory. This tool limits output to 12,000 pixels per side and 40 megapixels to reduce crashes. Keep an untouched copy of important originals before editing.
